Double Deep

Double-deep system is a variation of single-deep, using standard selective racking components to store products two-pallet-deep (or four deep in a double entry rack). Allowing for two to four pallets deep storage space while eliminating an aisle between two storage racks. This increased pallet storage density brings both the increased storage efficiency and reduced pallet accessibility compared to selective pallet racks.For double-deep racking system, the front pallet position must be empty in order to reach the rear pallet load. Usually, two times handling is necessary unless pallets are stored on a fast-in/first-out basis. To make full use of this storage system, some special deep- reach lift trucks are required to handle loads with high volumes and single-sku.

In industrial application, double deep pallet rack systems are commonly seen in cold warehouse storage for their durability and cost-saving.

Structural Principles

Frames
The double deep pallet rack system has the same basic structure as the selective pallet rack. The upright frames are composed of two columns, several horizontal bracing, and several diagonal bracing. Usually double deep rack is consist of four frames together.

Beams
As a important role in the rack, the beam is the support part of the rack, it provides the storage space for cargo, it may also be equipped with partitions, which may be steel plates or wire decks to use pallets to match different sizes.

Pallet Supports
Pallet supports can provide added space for storage in needed if the size of the cargo is not suitable. Moreover, it makes cargo more stable and safe, its length and width are determined by cargoes and racks.

Row Spacer
Row spacer is used to connect each pallet rack bay, it saves space in aisles by connecting individual shelves together into a group, which makes racks more neat and unified.
